In 2008 Kanga Care started using a biodegradable TPU waterproof material. Biodegradable TPU is solvent-free. Biodegradable TPU is a polyester fabric that has been laminated with a thermoplastic polyurethane using a heat bonding process. This process is low in toxicity and is better for the natural environment. Both the TPU laminate and the polyester fabric the laminate is applied to are biodegradable. When composted they will biodegrade in 4-5 years.
Why are these Rump•a•rooz® Seconds?At the end of 2009 Kanga Care had a run of Rump•a•rooz® that were cut from TPU that had not been properly bonded to the fabric. The TPU must be heated to a specific temperature to form a permanent bond. When the rolls of fabric were run through the bonding procedure the temperature was not high enough until a few yards had already passed through (roughly .04% each of 10 colors and 4 prints).
These diapers that were cut and sewn from the affected TPU are not identifiable through look, touch or feel. They much be washed and used before the temporary bond fails. The diapers for sale in this SECONDS area, may or may not be affected. Roughly 5% of the entire run was affected. These diapers are the remaining stock from the affected run. Since there is no way to tell the good apart from the bad, we have decided to clearance off the entire remaining stock. Our product and materials are guaranteed to us by our manufacturer and they have already replaced the entire run.
How long will my "seconds" Rump•a•rooz® last?Your diaper may or may not have been affected. If it does delaminate you will still be able to use it for many months or longer if you take special care of it. Once the bond fails the diaper will still function 100% unless the laminate either A) tears, or B) is melted in the dryer. Once delamination starts, the following will help you keep using your diaper as long as possible:
• Do not put in the dryer
• Take extra care when stuffing insert in pocket
ReturnsThere are no refunds or returns on "second" quality items or outlet products. All Rumparooz are sold as is and do not come with an insert. You may add an insert for an additional $4.00. The care labels have been cut in a fashion to designate the item as non-returnable but are still legible for care instruction.
